Cyrus Peterpaul is the lead data scientist at Zacoustic, an exciting SaaS startup in the customer experience space. His work there could be equal parts software architecture, data pipeline management, applied machine learning, and speculative research.
Dr. Peterpaul received his PhD in mathematics from Brown University in the Spring of 2019. His dissertation stated and solved a problem in computational topology concerning the behavior of triangulations of surfaces under topological branched covering maps. It's a bit like asking when a pattern of cuts in a page can be made by first folding up the paper and cutting it to make a paper snowflake.
His current work has expanded to include projects in the digital humanities with coauthors Milen Ivanov and Simeon Simeonov. Take a look at eafsmap.org to see some of their recent work on visualizing historical data.
He currently resides in Baltimore. His research interests in pure mathematics are in arc complexes and computational aspects of algebraic topology. His CV can be downloaded here.
